Nextpower tops Wood Mackenzie’s Global Tracker Manufacturer Ranking 2026

US and European manufacturers lead as trade policy and bankability requirements reshape global tracker procurement

1 minute read

Nextpower ranked first in Wood Mackenzie’s Global Tracker Manufacturer Ranking 2026, as solar developers, investors and lenders place increasing emphasis on bankability, supply chain resilience and operational reliability when selecting tracker suppliers.

Wood Mackenzie’s ranking assessed manufacturers across eight criteria, including aftersales service and warranty, research and development, supply chain stability, ESG and CSR performance, capacity utilisation, third-party certification, financial condition and manufacturing experience. The assessment reflects full-year 2025 performance and market activity.

The 2026 ranking comes amid growing supply chain localisation, evolving trade policies and stricter financing requirements across major solar markets. These trends are reshaping tracker procurement strategies and increasing scrutiny of supplier capabilities beyond manufacturing scale alone.

“Tracker procurement has entered a new phase where bankability is becoming as important as technology performance,” said Timothy Shen, senior research analyst, solar supply chain at Wood Mackenzie. “As financing standards tighten, buyers are placing greater weight on warranty strength, service capability and supply chain transparency. Manufacturers that can demonstrate long-term reliability are gaining a clear competitive advantage.”

Three US-headquartered manufacturers feature in the top ten alongside three Spanish and four Chinese suppliers, underscoring the growing importance of regional manufacturing presence, certification depth and aftersales infrastructure in securing project contracts worldwide.

The ranking is led by manufacturers that demonstrate strong performance across manufacturing experience, supply chain stability, aftersales support and innovation. The narrow score spread among the leading companies highlights an increasingly competitive market where operational execution and supplier credibility are key differentiators.

Key findings from the 2026 ranking

  • Nine of the top 10 manufacturers reported positive earnings in 2025, highlighting the growing importance of financial resilience amid steel price volatility, logistics disruption and tariff exposure.
  • Every top 10 manufacturer has more than 10 years of tracker manufacturing experience, reinforcing the value buyers place on proven execution and established operating track records.
  • Regional manufacturing networks and local supplier partnerships are becoming increasingly important as manufacturers respond to evolving trade policies and domestic content requirements.
  • All top 10 manufacturers are investing in artificial intelligence applications or advanced materials to improve tracker performance and reduce project costs.
  • Six of the top 10 manufacturers achieved EcoVadis Bronze status or higher, while third-party certification continues to gain importance as buyers evaluate suppliers across increasingly complex regulatory and environmental requirements.

Wood Mackenzie awarded 16 manufacturers Grade A status for 2026, recognising suppliers that demonstrate leading performance across operational strength, financial stability, manufacturing experience and transparency.

The designation provides developers, EPCs, investors and asset owners with an independent benchmark of supplier quality and bankability at a time when procurement teams face increasing scrutiny around project risk and financing requirements.

A manufacturer receives Grade A status when it meets five or more of Wood Mackenzie’s benchmark criteria and achieves a minimum score of 70 points. Seven of the top 10 ranked manufacturers met at least seven benchmark thresholds, highlighting the concentration of operational excellence among the industry's leading suppliers.
